Jessica Zafra

Palanca-winning Author, Journalist & Animal Welfare Advocate

Jessica Zafra is a writer based in Manila. She has published a novel, The Age of Umbrage, three short story collections, and the bestselling Twisted series of books on travel, popular culture, and politics. She has received Palanca Awards for her short stories, and the National Book Award for her essays.

Her work has also appeared in the New Yorker, Newsweek, and other publications. She was editor-in-chief of Flip: The Official Guide to World Domination. She conducts a workshop called Writing Boot Camp. 

Outside of publishing, Jessica hosted the online show, The Sanity Maintenance Program. She wrote, produced, and presented The Flip Trip, a travel show on CNN Philippines. She has hosted talk shows on television and radio, and managed an indie rock band. She was an executive producer on Norte, The End of History (Lav Diaz, 2014) and screenwriter of Esoterika: Manila (Elwood Perez, 2014).
