Marshall Blecher

Founding Partner, MAST

Marshall Blecher is an award winning Australian architect based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Marshall is the co-founder and director of Maritime Architecture studio MAST and the founder of Studio Marshall Blecher.

In 2014 Marshall travelled the world with a prestigious Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship researching vernacular floating architecture which led to his settling in Copenhagen, Denmark where he undertook a Masters degree in Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation.

In 2016 Marshall founded his own studio which has collaborated on the delivery of around 20 unique, award winning houses houses across scandinavia and Australia from an underground concrete beachfront villa to a timber clad hunting lodge in the danish forest.

In 2018 Marshall founded the Maritime Architecture Studio MAST along with Magnus Maarbjerg with a mission to work with water and create open, innovative and sustainable spaces. MAST has since created a series of award winning public spaces, houseboats and floating communi- ties in Denmark, the UK and Italy. In 2022 MAST launched the LOW concept.

Marshall is the recipient of the Mirvac Award, the 2018 Taipei International Design Prize in the social design and public space design categories and the 2022 Taipei International Design Prize in the public space design category. His work has also been shortlisted for the Beazley design Award, the Danish Design Prize and the 2022 Dezeen Award. Marshall has given keynote addresses at Apple HQ in London, at mindtalk in Bei- jing and at Utopian hours urban design festival in Turin.
