PH Dept. of Energy intensifies monitoring of 3 percent coco biodiesel blend compliance

The Philippines’ Department of Energy (DOE) said Friday that more intensified monitoring will be implemented to ensure compliance with the 3 percent coconut methyl ester (CME) blend in all diesel fuel nationwide.

“Oil companies have been given ample time to make this adjustment and the OIMB (Oil Industry Management Bureau) will now conduct inspections at bulk depots to enforce compliance,” DOE Undersecretary Alessandro Sales said in a statement in PNA.

He cited the gradual expansion of gasoline station inspections following its implementation in October. In particular, the DOE-OIMB will conduct the inspections to ensure a seamless transition to a higher biodiesel blend. “Timely action at the depot level is crucial to maintaining an up-to-date and efficient fuel distribution chain,” Sales said.

Sarawak enhances carbon trading, climate change efforts — deputy min

Malaysia’s Sarawak state is taking strides to involve private sector stakeholders in its carbon trading initiatives and climate change strategies, according to the State Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.

Replying to a question from Azizul Adenan (GPS-Tanjung Datu) at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly sitting on Tuesday, he said the state had established a legal and collaborative framework that encourages private sector engagement in Sarawak’s green economy.

“Through legal frameworks and clear processes, Sarawak is ensuring that carbon project developers have a structured path forward,” he said, emphasising the collaborative approach that includes high-level events to increase awareness.

He said the state is also considering the establishment of a Sarawak Climate Change Centre, a dedicated facility to coordinate and manage climate change mitigation and carbon trading.

“This centre would serve as a focal point for engaging private sectors and addressing related interests, queries and opportunities,” he said, as reported by The Edge.
