The 11th edition of the PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit (ARES 2025) successfully wrapped on 11 December at The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, with the support of design luminaries and distinguished partners from around the world.
At ARES 2025, the Design Spotlight keynote shone on Sybarite Architects, the firm behind the award-winning development SKP Wuhan.
The London-based design studio is dedicated to retail, culture, hospitality, and everything that shapes how people feel inside spaces. Simon Mitchell, co-founder of Sybarite Architects, flew from Shanghai to the Thai capital for the highly anticipated day of talks on “Trusted Marketplaces and Thriving Communities.”
“The future of real estate is a shift from spaces to places, from transactions to transformations, from buildings to emotionally charged ecosystems,” he says. “What people buy is always going to change, but what they remember and what they return to is how a place makes them feel. At Sybarite, we design destinations that people fall in love with: places that shape culture, define cities, and elevate human experience.”
Considered one of the world’s strongest examples of luxury retail reinvention, SKP Wuhan vaunts Sybarite Architects’ ability to harness the Power of Place.
“This is no longer just a shopping mall,” Mitchell says. “It’s a city-shaping anchor that’s influencing the surrounding land value, the visitor flows, and the cultural identity.”
SKP Wuhan eventually won Best Completed Retail Architectural Design (Mainland China) at the 12th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau), also held at The Athenee Hotel on 12 December.
In addition to Sybarite Architects, the organisers of ARES 2025 would also like to thank the following partners for making the event possible: Bridges, BusinessWorld, Detik, D+A Magazine, Hot Magazine, Inquirer Property, Kompas.com, Kopi and Property, Luxury Society of Asia, Manila Bulletin, Niaga Times, Penang Property Talk, Prop2morrow, REm Thailand, SquareRooms, Tatler Asia Homes, TerraBKK, The Grid, The Malaysia Voice, The Philippine Star, and Top10 of Asia.
